Segovia Campus
The Master in International Management Open Ceremony took place today on IE’s campus in Segovia (pictured left). Students were greeted with a breakfast before listening to some talks from David Bach, Dean of Programs, Martin Boehm, Associate Dean of Master in Management Program, Margarita Alonso, General Director Alumni & Careers and Lisa Bevill, Director of Admissions for Full-Time programs.
The ceremony’s key note speaker was Gonzalo Castellano, a recent IE International MBA Graduate and one of the founders of City Deal, which was acquired by Groupon, called the fasted-growing company in history by Forbes Magazine. Gonzalo shared his experience as an IE student and spoke about the thrills and challenges of founding a start-up company in Madrid during the economic crisis. He expounded on the resources made available to him through fellow classmates, former professors and the career and alumni offices at IE. The new Master in International Management students had the opportunity to jump into the business fray in the first hours of their program by participating in a question and answer session with Gonzalo and interacting with him over lunch. Students were then treated to a walking tour of Segovia’s historic district before heading back to Madrid.
A big welcome to our class from 48 different countries. The year promises to be one of huge challenges, but also huge rewards. Good luck!
