MIM students visited various MRW locations this month as a part of their Operations and Supply Chain Management course.

The first stop was to the MRW Platform at Barajas Airport’s Air Cargo Center, where students witnessed firsthand how the transport and logistics company, a leader in Spain, handles all Amazon shipments from abroad to Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar. In less than 10 minutes, a massive fleet of minivans entered the platform, loaded the cargo, and departed to begin their delivery routes. Students then proceeded on to the logistics center in Coslada, where MRW handles the entire e-commerce business for Toys ‘R Us, among other companies. Students learned how MRW stores, picks, and packs products ranging from Sponge Bob Square Pants toys to cribs to Xboxes.  The financial crisis has affected the volume of packages that MRW manages daily, but the company´s expertise in logistics and handling delivery to consumers has managed to help the company stay in the black.
