As September is approaching soon, lets take a sneak-peak into the background of one of our new IE family members – Leah Wald.
Leah Wald is from Washington, D.C. though she also attended a boarding school in Jerusalem, Israel. At the age of 16, she traveled to a former Farabundo Martini National Liberation Front (FMLN) guerilla base in the mountains of El Salvador to help locals build an eco-tourism business. She was, by many years, the youngest member of the team to go. She continued in this vein throughout her academic career. At the age of 19, she worked at the World Bank Group while simultaneously founding her own company, Naadam Cashmere LLC- where she built a socially responsible business plan that reinvests profits into livestock insurance premium for the goat herders that work with her company. She decided to join IE to learn more about entrepreneurship and management and is in the International Business specialization. She studied abroad at the University of Beijing and the University of Haifa. Additionally, she was chosen as a US representative to study conflict management and political economics at the International Institute of Political and Economic Studies in Greece. She is currently a Research Assistant for the Lauterpacht Center for International Law at the University of Cambridge (UK). At Pitzer College, she majored in International Political Economy. She was a nationally ranked 3-time state champion soccer player and is an avid surfer and horse racer that also enjoys dancing and playing soccer on the beach with friends.
